What To Expect:
will be sedated to make the procedure most comfortable. The procedure
will take about 30 minutes after which you will be observed for 30-60
minutes. If stable, you will be discharged however, you will need to
have transportation home as you may not take public transportation or
OUTPATIENT COLONOSCOPY INSTRUCTIONS
1. The day prior to your scheduled procedure you must be on a CLEAR liquid diet, We recommend drinking a variety of liquids.
Night before exam at approximately 6:00pm begin drinking 2 liters of
Movi-Prep(Rx) as instructed - 8 ounces every 10 minutes in 1 1/2 HOURS
OR LESS!! Continue drinking until you have finished the 2 liters or
your stool output looks like what you were drinking.You may return to
clear liquids up til midnight.
3. NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK AFTER MIDNIGHT!!
If you are on Blood Pressure Medicines, take them with a sip of water
the morning of the procedure but nothing else orally!!
If you take ASPIRIN, Please be sure you have stopped taking it at least ONE WEEK before the procedure.
home and and relax. Eat a light meal for the first meal. If you are not
having cramping or pain or fever you may resume your regular diet. Do
not drive a car or make major financial or personal decisions and do
not go to work. The day after the procedure you may resume normal diet
and activity. If a polyp was removed or biopsied, DO NOT Take Any
Aspirin or Blood thinners for 2 WEEKS post procedure. Call the office
in 4 days to check on any pathology reports if biopsies were performed.
